13: Tracking and Predicting Fine Scale Sea Ice Motion by Constructing Super-Resolution Images and Fusing Multiple Satellite Sensors
نویسندگان
چکیده
Tracking and predicting the fine scale sea ice motion will be particularly critical to safe Navy operations in the Arctic Ocean. It is also very important to monitor and track the size, shape, and location of sea ice in near real-time (within several hours of data acquisition), and predict the motion of sea ice for ice hazard forecasts in a finer scale than is currently possible. The log-term goal of this project is to explore new algorithms for the purpose of constructing and analyzing super-resolution images from multiple satellite sensors for automatic tracking and prediction of fine scale sea ice motion in Arctic Ocean.

Oceanographic images obtained from environmental satellites by a wide range of sensors allow characterizing natural phenomena through different physical measurements. For instance Sea Surface Temperature (SST) images, altimetry data and ocean color data can be used for characterizing currents and vortex structures in the ocean. The purpose of this thesis is to derive a relatively complete frame...
متن کاملA Feasibility Study of Sea Ice Motion and Deformation Measurements Using Multi-Sensor High-Resolution Optical Satellite Images
Sea ice motion and deformation have generally been measured using low-resolution passive microwave or mid-resolution radar remote sensing datasets of daily (or few days) intervals to monitor long-term trends over a wide polar area. This feasibility study presents an application of high-resolution optical images from operational satellites, which have become more available in polar regions, for ...

Sea ice influences the life in the polar regions, but it also is an important factor in the climate system due to its interaction with atmosphere and ocean. Its motion has been systematically observed for about a century. For the last thirty years, sea ice kinematics have been studied continuously over large areas, also taking advantage of the increasing availability of satellite data. The inte...
متن کاملA Deep Model for Super-resolution Enhancement from a Single Image
This study presents a method to reconstruct a high-resolution image using a deep convolution neural network. We propose a deep model, entitled Deep Block Super Resolution (DBSR), by fusing the output features of a deep convolutional network and a shallow convolutional network. In this way, our model benefits from high frequency and low frequency features extracted from deep and shallow networks...
متن کاملPseudo Zernike Moment-based Multi-frame Super Resolution
The goal of multi-frame Super Resolution (SR) is to fuse multiple Low Resolution (LR) images to produce one High Resolution (HR) image. The major challenge of classic SR approaches is accurate motion estimation between the frames. To handle this challenge, fuzzy motion estimation method has been proposed that replaces value of each pixel using the weighted averaging all its neighboring pixels i...
